Before the first listening session
- An Apple TV, or an iPhone or iPad on a recent version of its software
- An Apple ID signed in to the App Store
- Your PRORANKTV Xtream Codes details, plus the M3U link for players that prefer it
- Headphones, if you plan to practice away from home
Still waiting for details? The PRORANKTV 24-hour trial sends a working login to WhatsApp in the same format as a paid term. Once it arrives, live TV sorted by language shows which groups to practice with.
7 steps to a working Apple TV and iPhone
Decide between Smarters Player Lite and iPlayTV
Smarters Player Lite is free and reads the Xtream Codes details, with live channels and on-demand titles kept apart. iPlayTV costs money, runs only on Apple devices and has a tidy channel list; use whichever login format its add-playlist screen offers. If you are unsure, start with Smarters Player Lite, since nothing is lost by trying iPlayTV later with the same login. Check each App Store listing for the oldest software version it supports before you buy.
Install the player on the Apple TV
Open the App Store icon on the Apple TV home screen, choose Search and enter the player’s name. Download it and open it. Whether buying a player on the iPhone also covers the Apple TV depends on how its developer sells it, so read the listing before you pay for iPlayTV a second time.
Use the iPhone as the Apple TV’s keyboard
Picking letters one by one with the Siri Remote is slow and invites mistakes. Select the username field on the Apple TV and look at your iPhone: a notification usually appears inviting you to type there. Tap it, switch to WhatsApp, copy the username and paste it in; repeat for the password and the server URL. The server keeps http:// at the start and the port number at the end. Confirm, and wait while the channels and guide load.
Sign in on the iPhone or iPad
Install the same player on the phone from the App Store, open it and choose the Xtream Codes option. Copy each value out of the WhatsApp message and paste it into its field. Then read the username back: autocorrect can change a login that looks like a word, and the server will refuse it without saying why.
Prepare the phone for practice on the move
A live channel over mobile data uses a lot of it, often more than a gigabyte an hour in HD, so practice on Wi-Fi where you can, or pick a lower-quality version of the channel if the group lists one. Connect your headphones before pressing play. On a one-connection plan, the phone and the Apple TV cannot play at the same time; a two-connection plan covers both.
Make a favorites list on each device
Favorites usually live on the device rather than in your account, so build them on the Apple TV and on the phone. Search for the channels you will use, such as KBS, MBC, SBS and tvN for Korean, or CCTV and Phoenix for Mandarin, and add each to favorites. Keep the slowest channel at the top of the list, so each session starts with the easiest listening of the day.
Check a channel in your target language
Play your first favorite on the Apple TV for two minutes. In players that use Apple’s built-in controls, swiping down on the remote during playback shows the audio and subtitle choices, if the stream carries any; other players keep them in their own menu. Most live channels have one audio track and no subtitles. Repeat the check on the phone with headphones on, then look at the guide for tomorrow at your practice hour.
6 hitches on the Apple TV and iPhone, each with its fix
The iPhone keyboard notification never appears
The iPhone and the Apple TV need the same Wi-Fi network and the same Apple ID. Open Control Center on the iPhone, add the Apple TV Remote if it is not there, and the keyboard opens whenever a text field is selected on the television.
The username is refused although it was copied correctly
Autocorrect or automatic capitals may have changed it after pasting. Look at the field letter by letter, fix any change, and if it happens again, switch off Auto-Correction under Settings, General, Keyboard while you type the login.
The Apple TV goes to sleep in the middle of a long program
The Apple TV sleeps after a set period without remote input. Open Settings, then General, then Sleep After, and choose a longer time or Never for evenings of long listening. The television’s own power-saving timer may need the same change.
The stream stops when the phone switches from Wi-Fi to mobile data
Leaving home moves the phone to another network, and the stream drops during the change. Press play again once the mobile signal is steady. If it happens often on your route, start the channel after you have left the house rather than before.
The App Store says the player needs a newer iOS version
The listing sets a minimum software version, and an older iPhone or iPad may sit below it. Install any pending update under Settings, General, Software Update. If the device cannot update further, use the player on the Apple TV, or choose the other player if its listing supports your version.
Bluetooth headphones sound slightly behind the speakers’ lips
Wireless headphones add a small delay that some players do not correct. If your player has an audio delay setting, adjust it until the lips match; otherwise wired headphones remove the delay entirely. For listening practice, a slight delay matters less than a clear voice.
Still stuck after these? PRORANKTV faults that are not tied to one device covers the general ones, and a picture of the error message, taken on your phone and sent to WhatsApp, saves describing it.
Questions about PRORANKTV on the Apple TV and iPhone
Does PRORANKTV work on iPhone and iPad?
Yes, through a player from the App Store, not through a PRORANKTV app, which does not exist. Smarters Player Lite is the free choice and iPlayTV the paid one; both take the login from your WhatsApp chat. The same details work on an Apple TV, so the phone and the television can share one subscription.
Is TiviMate available for Apple devices?
No. TiviMate runs only on Android-based devices and has no version for iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, whatever similarly named listings suggest. On Apple hardware, use Smarters Player Lite or iPlayTV. If TiviMate matters to you, a Google TV device on the television runs it with the same PRORANKTV login.
Can I listen to PRORANKTV on my iPhone during a commute?
Yes, with headphones and a player such as Smarters Player Lite. Live channels use a lot of mobile data, so use Wi-Fi where you can or choose a lower-quality version of the channel. If the Apple TV at home might be playing at the same time, you need a plan with two connections.
How many Apple devices can use one PRORANKTV login?
You can install the player and sign in on as many as you like. The plan limits how many play at the same moment: one, two, three or five connections, chosen when you order. A learner who listens on the phone while the family watches the Apple TV needs at least two.
