PRORANKTV – Live TV for language learners, from beginner to pro

Plan your listening with the PRORANKTV program guide

The guide is the timetable beside your live channels. Learners lean on it for two things: holding one daily practice slot, and seeing what is on in their target language tonight.

The PRORANKTV TV guide, or EPG (electronic program guide), is the timetable shown alongside the live channels in your player: the program on air, its finishing time, the next one and, for many channels, earlier ones too. It comes with every plan and covers the 25,000+ live channels wherever a channel publishes listings. The 120,000+ on-demand titles have no broadcast time, so they never appear in it.

For someone learning a language, the guide answers a question a channel list cannot: what, in that language, can I listen to at the time I actually have free?

What a listing tells a language learner

Each entry carries a few small facts, and every one helps you choose.

In the listingHow to use it for practice
Title and type of programMatch the type to your stage: a forecast or a kids’ program early on, headlines next, then drama, talk and finally sport commentary.
Start and end timePick something that fits your slot: a fifteen-minute bulletin rather than a two-hour film.
Short description, where suppliedOften written in the channel’s own language. Read it first for the topic and a few key words.
Earlier entriesOn channels with an archive, a program you have already heard can be replayed for a second listen.
What followsDecide whether to stay for one more program, perhaps a harder type than the first.

Fixing a daily practice slot with the PRORANKTV guide

Choose one time of day, one language and one kind of program, then let the guide tell you what fills that slot each day. A fixed slot means the format repeats: the same presenters’ rhythm, the same structure, the same stock phrases. Repetition is what a practice slot is for.

  1. Name the slot

Fifteen to thirty minutes you can keep most days: before work, at lunch, after dinner.

  2. Narrow the grid to your target language

Open the guide on your favorites list for that language, so ten or twenty rows fill the screen instead of thousands.

  3. Read across the slot and choose by stage

Scan what those channels show inside your window and pick the type that suits your level, not the most tempting title.

  4. Keep the slot even on a hard day

If you follow little, stay anyway and listen for numbers and names. If nothing suits, replay something that aired earlier on an archived channel.

Time zones decide which country’s evening lands in your slot, and the guide converts every listing to your device’s clock for you. On the US East Coast, an 8 p.m. program in Istanbul appears at 1 p.m. while American clocks are on daylight time, and Seoul’s 8 p.m. falls at breakfast. So a learner of Korean with a free early morning can hear Korean evening television on KBS, MBC, SBS or tvN before work, while an evening learner of Spanish may prefer Univision, Telemundo or the Latin American channels to those from Spain.

Seeing what is on in your target language tonight

A favorites list per language turns the guide into a short timetable. Find each channel once with the player’s search, then add it. A few starting points from the line-up:

  • French: TF1, France 2 and M6 from France; TVA, Radio-Canada and Noovo from Canada.
  • German: ARD, ZDF, RTL, Sat.1 and ProSieben.
  • Turkish: TRT 1, ATV, Kanal D, Show TV and Star TV, with NTV and Habertürk for news.
  • Hindi: Star Plus, Zee TV, Sony TV and Colors.
  • Portuguese (Portugal): RTP1, SIC and TVI.

Every language in the line-up, and the country groups where its channels sit, is listed on the page about PRORANKTV channels by language. In TiviMate, favorites and hiding whole groups are Premium features; IPTV Smarters Pro lets you mark favorites from the channel list.

How the PRORANKTV EPG reaches your player

The sign-in method decides it. With the Xtream Codes details (server URL, username and password), most players, TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro included, fetch the listings unprompted once the channel list is in; give the first download a few minutes, longer on an older stick. The steps are in the Xtream Codes sign-in guide.

With the M3U link (the get.php address), many players load the channels and leave the grid empty until you give them a guide source. That source is the xmltv.php address on the same server:

SERVER_URL/xmltv.php?username=USERNAME&password=PASSWORD

You do not have to build it: ask in the WhatsApp chat where your login arrived and support sends it filled in. Paste it into the field your player calls EPG, guide or XMLTV source. Players that accept only a playlist are covered in the M3U playlist setup steps.

Getting the hours right: time zone, offset, refresh

If every channel is out by the same amount, the fault is almost always the device clock, not the listings. Correct things in this order:

  • Device first. Turn on automatic date and time on the TV, stick or box and choose the right zone. A clock set by hand misses the spring and fall changes and moves the whole grid by an hour.
  • Player second. Close the player completely, reopen it and update the guide.
  • Offset last. If a fixed gap remains, use the player’s guide time-shift or offset setting, if your version has one, to cancel exactly that gap.

To check the result, compare any hourly news program with its slot: when the opening titles roll at the minute the grid shows, your settings are right. Listings refresh on a timer; TiviMate keeps a manual update in its guide settings in recent versions, and IPTV Smarters Pro has a refresh option whose place varies by version.

Why a channel shows “no information”

The player has found no schedule to attach to that channel. In practice, one of four things:

  • The guide is still downloading after the first sign-in or a refresh.
  • The account was added from the M3U link and no xmltv.php address has been entered.
  • The channel publishes no schedule, as is common for channels opened for a single match or event.
  • The listings exist under a different channel ID. That one is on our side: send the channel name on WhatsApp.

A channel in your target language with no listings is still worth keeping. Open it at your slot anyway and listen; you simply will not know the program’s name in advance. If the channels themselves will not play, go through the PRORANKTV troubleshooting checklist.

From a listing to a replay

The guide is also the door to catch-up. On channels that keep an archive, entries left of now open from the opening minute, provided your player handles catch-up, and that is how a bulletin becomes a second listen. That only works when the guide is loaded and its hours are right, because the player requests a replay by start time. Which channels carry it, and a routine for using it, are on the page about PRORANKTV catch-up and replay.

Plan tomorrow’s practice slot during the trial

Ask for the 24-hour trial, let the guide load, narrow it to one language and see what lands in your slot before you buy.

PRORANKTV TV guide and EPG questions

Does PRORANKTV come with a TV guide?

Yes. Every PRORANKTV plan includes the program guide for the live channels, at no extra cost. After an Xtream Codes sign-in, TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro and most other players fetch the listings unprompted; after an M3U sign-in, you paste a guide address into the player’s settings. On-demand titles have no timetable and sit in their own sections.

What is the PRORANKTV EPG address?

Take the server address in your login and add xmltv.php, then your username and password as two parameters. Support pastes it complete into the WhatsApp chat on request, so there is nothing to assemble. You only need it when a player loaded your channels from the M3U link; the Xtream Codes login brings the listings without it.

Why are the PRORANKTV guide times wrong?

Almost always the device is set to the wrong time zone, or its clock was set by hand and missed a daylight-saving change. Switch the TV, stick or box to automatic date and time, choose your zone, reopen the player and refresh the guide. Touch the player’s own guide offset last, and only when all channels remain wrong by an identical gap.

What does no information mean in the PRORANKTV guide?

It means the player found no schedule to attach to that channel. Just after the first sign-in the guide may still be downloading, an M3U sign-in may lack the guide address, and channels opened for a single event often publish no schedule. If one regular channel stays empty while those around it fill, send its name on WhatsApp so the pairing can be corrected.

Can the PRORANKTV guide show only channels in the language I am learning?

Yes, through a favorites list. Add the channels in your target language to favorites and open the guide on that list, so the grid shows nothing else. In TiviMate, favorites and hiding groups are Premium features; IPTV Smarters Pro lets you mark favorites from the channel list. Searching by channel name helps you find them the first time.

Does the PRORANKTV guide say which programs have subtitles?

Not reliably. A listing carries a title, start and end times and often a short description; a few broadcasters mark subtitles or captions in that data, most do not, and players rarely display the flag. The practical test is the player’s subtitle menu, if it has one. On-demand titles more often carry selectable subtitles.

How often does the PRORANKTV EPG update?

On a timer inside your player, so normally you never have to think about it. TiviMate keeps an update interval and a manual update in its guide settings in recent versions, and IPTV Smarters Pro has a refresh option whose place depends on the version. Force an update after changing the time zone or adding a guide address.
